Microsoft Cloud Operations & Support Engineer​

We are building our managed service practice from the ground up as a complementary service to our existing professional services. We have a target go-live date mid-2026 and this role is one of the foundational hires that makes it possible.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Microsoft Cloud Operations & Support Engineer to join our Managed Services team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operational support, monitoring, and optimization of client environments across Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystems. You will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, security posture, and cost efficiency while delivering exceptional support experiences to SMB and midmarket clients.

This is a multi-client, multi-tenant role and you will be working across several client environments simultaneously using a combination of Microsoft-native and custom tooling. You’ll have direct visibility into how the practice operates and real opportunity to grow into cloud architecture, security operations, or senior advisory work as the team scales

What You’ll Be Working On

Azure Cloud Operations

  • Monitor and manage Azure resources, ensuring availability, performance, and reliability
  • Perform incident triage, troubleshooting, and resolution across IaaS/PaaS services
  • Implement cost monitoring, anomaly detection, and optimization recommendations
  • Support Azure infrastructure including VMs, networking, storage, and resource governance

Microsoft 365 and Copilot Operation

  • Administer Microsoft 365 tenant health, user management, and service configurations
  • Monitor identity and access (Entra ID / Azure AD), including MFA and conditional access
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Azure, M365 and Copilot related incidents across client environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues spanning identity, access, policy, and user experience.
  • Build and maintain knowledge base articles, playbooks, and support documentation.
  • Define and optimize support processes between Extrada, client IT teams, and thirdparty vendors.
  • Develop self-service resources and user enablement guides to drive adoption and reduce support overhead.
  • Monitor new Copilot feature releases and proactively assess their impact on clients, ensuring smooth adoption.
  • Support Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and endpoint management (Intune)
  • Maintain tenant performance, uptime, and service health
  • Implement automation for workflows using cloud monitoring tools and such as ITSM platforms.
  • Analyze license utilization and recommend cost optimization strategies.

Security & Compliance Monitoring

  • Monitor and respond to alerts from Microsoft Defender and Defender for Cloud
  • Manage multi-tenant security operations using Azure Lighthouse and CIPP. Other tooling to be determined.
  • Track and improve Secure Score and overall security posture
  • Support identity security, threat detection, and incident response activities
  • Assist with compliance monitoring and baseline security configurations Service Delivery & Support
  • Provide support during business hours (Monday –Friday) with on-call rotation for critical incidents (frequency shared across the team; after hours incidents are compensated at a premium rate)
  • Respond to incidents, service requests, and alerts within defined SLAs
  • Document issues, resolutions, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to drive continuous improvement

Client Engagement & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, working closely with stakeholders to align Copilot capabilities with business goals.
  • Collaborate with Extrada teams across security, cloud architecture, and automation to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Coordinate with Microsoft and third-party vendors for advanced issue resolution and escalations.
  • Support project delivery and change management, including rollout planning, communications, and validation.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-years experience in Azure and Microsoft 365 support or cloud operations roles
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Microsoft Azure (VMs, networking, monitoring, cost management)
    • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Entra ID)
    • Experience with Microsoft Defender suite and cloud security best practices
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure and SaaS platforms
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems (ITSM)

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-104, MS-102, SC-200, AZ-500)
  • Experience in managed services or MSP environments
  • Experience in automation (PowerShell, Azure Automation, Logic Apps)
  • Understanding of data platforms (Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric)

Role Overview

Extrada Tech, a tech consulting firm based outside of Toronto, specializing in data analytics, automation, and digital solutions within the Microsoft stack, is seeking a Data Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will support client projects by working with modern tools in the Microsoft ecosystem to integrate data sources, build interactive dashboards, and streamline workflows. This is a fully remote position, offering the chance to collaborate with a close-knit, cross-functional team in delivering innovative solutions that help businesses scale and become AI ready. What You’ll Be Working On

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Integration & ETL: Assist in connecting, collecting, and transforming data from various sources (databases, APIs, CRM systems, etc.) into usable formats. Implement ETL processes to ensure clean, consistent, and up-to-date data for analysis and reporting.
  • Reporting & Dashboarding: Develop, publish, and maintain intuitive Power BI dashboards and custom reports for clients. Track key performance indicators (KPIs), financial metrics, and operational data, providing actionable analytics that drive informed decision-making.
  • Microsoft Power Platform: We often work with clients to implement solutions in the Power Platform stack. This could include a Power Apps, Power Automate flow, or Power Pages.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams – including software developers, technical analysts, and project managers – to design and implement data solutions that align with client goals. Act as a technical partner to stakeholders by integrating seamlessly into their workflows and delivering solutions that meet their specific requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Identify opportunities to enhance existing data processes, improve dashboard usability, and adopt new tools or best practices. Incorporate feedback from clients and team members to refine our solutions over time, ensuring we stay at the forefront of data analytics technology.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Engineering, or a related field. (Equivalent work experience or relevant certifications will also be considered.)
  • Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related role. This can include internships or co-op experience where you worked with data, reporting, or analytics.
  • Analytical Aptitude: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and generate insights that inform business decisions.
  • Communication: Good written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable presenting data findings and explaining technical concepts to non-technical team members or clients.
  • Team Orientation: A collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Eagerness to learn from others and share knowledge. Self-motivated and adaptable, with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.
 

Technical Skills

  • Power BI: Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI is required – able to create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that are clear and effective. Experience writing DAX measures and working with Power BI Service is required.
  • SQL: Working knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data in relational databases (e.g., writing SELECT queries, joins, aggregations). Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Database environment is beneficial.
  • ETL & Data Integration: Understanding of ETL concepts and data pipeline workflows. Experience with any ETL tools or methods (for example, using Power Query, Azure Data Factory, or custom scripts) to merge and transform data from multiple sources is an asset.
  • Microsoft Power Platform: Familiarity with the Power Platform (especially Power Automate, and optionally Power Apps) and how it can be used to create automated workflows and integrations.
  • Microsoft Tech Stack: General knowledge of the Microsoft ecosystem – Office 365 apps (Excel, SharePoint, etc.), Azure cloud services, and Dynamics 365 or other Microsoft data technologies. Prior exposure to tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Microsoft Fabric for data engineering is a bonus (but not required).
